SLA is an international
organization devoted to the study of sport in
literature and culture.
Initiated in the 1980s, the organization now has several hundred members around the world and sponsors an annual conference in a different location each summer. The SLA is affiliated with the American Literature Association and indexed by the Modern Language Association and American Humanities Index.
Kasey Symons of the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia is President of the SLA for 2021-2022.
Angie Abdou is the Program Chair for the 39th annual conference in Victoria, BC, Canada, June 15-18, 2022. Conference host is Jamie Dopp.
